Transformert Sluppen hvileområde
Nasjonal turistveg Aurlandsfjellet's Sluppen area has been transformed from a simple parking pocket into a charming, organized rest place, set to open on Wednesday, May 31. The parking area features a gravel surface and a universally designed seating group that offers a comfortable resting point for travelers on the scenic route from Lærdalsøyri to Aurlandsfjellet.
Naturintegrert design og stier
In harmony with the surrounding river landscape, the rest area is bordered by a wavy natural stone breastwork, emulating the gentle shapes of the river landscape. Visitors are provided with a small information board detailing possible hiking trails in the vicinity. To minimise ecological impact, a carefully constructed footpath with stairs leading down to the river has been installed, incorporating existing trees and featuring two separate seating areas with benches set back from the main walking path.
Åpningsseremoni med lokale bidrag
The opening ceremony includes contributions from National Tourist Routes, Statens vegvesen, and landscape architect Kari Bergo of Østengen & Bergo AS, as well as highlighting the importance of the National Tourist Routes to the tourism industry by Renate Kvåle Hagen, Marketing Chief at Visit Sognefjord. Lærdal's Mayor Audun Mo will perform the official opening, accompanied by cultural features from Lærdal Cultural School and food from Fredag & Fretland Bakeri.
Samarbeid på tvers av aktører
The project involved collaboration between Østengen & Bergo AS as landscape architects, Anleggsgartnar Jan Erik Sandal AS as the contractor, and Statens vegvesen as the client. The transformation was completed in 2023.
