The LCA Supercomputing Center is a completed turnkey construction project managed by Implenia Schweiz AG. Located in Lugano, Switzerland, this office building encompasses four floors and was executed as a general contractor project. The architectural design was handled by Itten&Brechbühl AG, while construction management was overseen by ETH Zürich Immobilien. The project's construction began in July 2010 and concluded in March 2012.

This development covers a plot size of 9583 m² and a building volume of 71079 m². The project involved a total construction volume valued at 45 million CHF. The office building is compliant with the MINERGIE-Eco standard, which emphasizes sustainable building practices, energy efficiency, and minimal environmental impact. Eco standards were also partially implemented in the accompanying data center.

Bærekraftig kjølesystem fra innsjø

One of the key sustainable features of this project is the cooling system for the supercomputer, which draws water from Lake Lugano. Additionally, the use of low-pollutant building materials, an environmentally friendly disposal and drainage system, and high utility value ensured economic efficiency and enhanced sustainability. Despite the short construction period and complex building services, the project was successfully completed, showcasing Implenia’s capacity to deliver high-quality, sustainable infrastructure.
