Undersøkelse av ubåtvrak

The Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) is preparing a procurement for an offshore campaign focused on investigating the wreckage of the submarine U-864 located off the coast of Fedje. The primary objectives include accessing a limited section of the keel on one or both wreck parts to retrieve mercury canisters, assess their condition, and evaluate the keel boxes along the length of the wreck. In addition, the project involves mapping the depth to bedrock in the immediate vicinity of the wreck.

This operation will require specialized expertise in environmental monitoring, excavation, dredging, and/or drilling in contaminated sediments at water depths between 140 and 160 meters. Alternative proven and tested approaches for keel access and assessment may be considered. A critical requirement is maintaining the stability of the wreck parts throughout the operation to prevent further environmental or structural hazards.

The project is classified under several categories including preparatory construction work, soil remediation, test drilling and boring, dredging and pumping, environmental monitoring of construction activities, various engineering services, geotechnical engineering, and offshore activities. The work is set to be conducted in the Vestland region of Norway.

Tidsplan for anskaffelsesprosess

The procurement process is scheduled with a tender notice publication on 1 September 2025, followed by a supplier conference held online on 5 September 2025. The conference aims to provide potential suppliers with detailed information about the investigation purpose, recent visual mapping results of the wreck, and site conditions to clarify the complexity of underwater operations. Tender submission deadlines and evaluation stages are planned throughout October and November 2025, with a contract award recommendation targeted for week 45.

Due to the complex nature of the offshore campaign, engaging subcontractors might be necessary to cover all required expertise and scope. Early and thorough preparation is strongly advised based on previous project experiences. Registration for the supplier conference must be done via email before 4 September 2025.
