Helikopter bruk for riving
Omexom in Belgium was awarded a contract by Elia in July to dismantle a high-voltage pylon dating from 1951. This pylon, located near the Carmeuse quarry in the province of Liege, could not be dismantled using conventional crane methods due to its cramped location. Instead, the operation required the intervention of a helicopter and teams from Omexom, assisted by French teams, to ensure safety and efficiency.
Pylonriving for infrastukturfornying
The project is part of a broader effort to rehabilitate Belgian transport infrastructure, specifically a 6km overhead transmission line linking Rimière to Les Awirs. This line, having reached the end of its life, was determined to be unnecessary based on a utility evaluation and thus slated for dismantling. The unique location of one of the pylons necessitated the use of a helicopter for its removal, an exceptional operation in the field.
Demontering i seks deler
The 60-meter-high, 20-tonne pylon was too heavy for the helicopter, which had a maximum load capacity of 4 tonnes. To manage this, the tower was cut into six pieces. The top part was unbolted but held together with hooks to facilitate safe disassembly. Teams on the ground pulled a long rope to release the hook, allowing the helicopter to carry away each piece sequentially. This cautious approach ensured no flight paths went over residential areas, maintaining safety throughout the operation.
Sikker fullføring med ekspertise
This operation underscores Omexom's commitment to safety and efficiency in complex circumstances. By setting up a remote removal area and carefully planning the helicopter's flight path, Omexom ensured the project’s completion without incidents. Their expertise played a crucial role in executing this challenging task successfully.
