Gjenbruk av materiale fra 1904
The Eslöv Spirit Quarter Revitalization project aims to transform an old distillery in Eslöv, Skåne, into a modern residential and office area. Led by LINK Arkitektur as the total advisor, the project focuses on sustainability and circular economy principles while respecting the distillery's history dating back to 1904. The objective is to reuse existing materials and integrate them into new extensions to meet contemporary standards.
Resirkulerer gamle murstein og treverk
A significant aspect of the project is the preservation and recycling of the original building materials. More than half of the bricks from the site will be reused, and the existing facades and cast-iron windows will be restored. Some walls need to be dismantled for structural reasons, but the materials will be repurposed to reconstruct them. Additionally, timber beams from the original buildings will be used to build a large pergola. This extensive recycling effort mitigates climate impact, optimizes resource use, and minimizes construction waste, but it demands extensive planning and collaboration among architects, constructors, conservators, and sustainability experts.
Nye bygg med teglfasader
Architecturally, the new extensions and row houses draw inspiration from the 1900s brick facades of the distillery. The new buildings will be clad in brick, with details in cast iron, wrought iron, and corten steel, which changes patina over time and has over 40 years of guarantee. This cohesive architectural design aims to enhance the neighborhood's vibrancy and promote social sustainability by creating new communal spaces.
Nye rekkehus og leiligheter
The project also includes the construction of three new row houses and additional apartments, which will broaden the social spectrum for future residents. All buildings will have entrances from both the street and the courtyard, facilitating good flow and increased neighborhood safety. The construction for the first phase of the project is planned to begin in 2022.
