On behalf of Daimler Buses Solutions and in collaboration with Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB), Omexom successfully installed a state-of-the-art electric bus charging system at the new Gaisburg bus depot in Stuttgart, Germany. This project marks a major advancement in supporting sustainable, climate-neutral public transportation for the city.

Moderne ladeinfrastruktur og kapasitet

The Gaisburg depot includes six modular double halls designed for enhanced fire protection. Omexom installed a powerful charging infrastructure with 37 charging points utilizing advanced pantograph technology, allowing automated, efficient bus charging. Additionally, a 4-megawatt on-site grid station was constructed to ensure robust power delivery. A 28-point charging facility was also built at the Möhringen site, with plans to increase Gaisburg’s charging capacity up to 100 points.

This infrastructure supports the operation of Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric buses on Stuttgart’s inner-city routes, aligning with SSB’s goal of a fully emission-free bus fleet by 2035. By 2027, the electrification of all inner-city routes is expected to be complete, reducing CO₂ emissions by over 20,000 tons annually and benefiting the 165 million passengers transported yearly.

Intelligent ladehåndtering og samarbeid

The system incorporates intelligent load management technology that optimizes battery use by dynamically charging buses based on real-time energy demands, boosting overall operational efficiency. Despite logistical challenges during construction, Omexom and its partners maintained strong coordination, delivering the project on schedule and reinforcing long-term collaboration for advancing energy transition in urban mobility.
