11,000 sqm Redevelopment Site
The Lancy Innovation Center is situated on a site spanning approximately 11,000 square meters, previously utilized by an Implenia Group company. After the gradual abandonment of the site in the 1990s, redevelopment measures were undertaken, culminating in the approval of a neighbourhood plan in 2003. The project aimed to seamlessly integrate into a development area known for high-quality buildings while providing modern industrial functionalities.
Double Comb Design & Features
The building features a unique 'double comb' geometry that enhances façade surface areas, allowing maximum natural light into the interior spaces. With an exposed concrete plinth and an all-glass façade, the building is composed of light-flooded floors and maintenance corridors, embodying the characteristics of modern industrial buildings. The interior includes landscaped spaces, research rooms, variously sized meeting rooms, and ancillary rooms such as technical, computer, and archive rooms. The combination of a slabs-and-columns structure with vertical bracing cores showcases a commitment to rationalisation and efficiency.
Advanced Climate Control Systems
To ensure flexibility in the building's technical equipment, the rooms feature suspended ceilings and raised floors. A double-flow ventilation and air conditioning system is integrated throughout, with thermal energy supplied by CADIOM SA via waste incineration and cooling provided by high-performance machines. A central monitoring system regulates the building's climate. The outdoor facilities include additional building entrances, a private service path, private recreation areas, and various planting areas.
June 2005 to June 2007
The project began in June 2005 and was completed by June 2007, led by architects Urs Tschumi, François Dugerdil, and José Ojalvo from Genève, with interior design by AIDEA from Makati City, Philippines. Beric SA of Petit-Lancy served as the local point of contact. The successful collaboration between the architects and the client has resulted in a building that fits harmoniously into a luxurious neighbourhood while providing a highly functional and elegant industrial space.
