Største prosjekt i Staticus' historie
Staticus Norge has been awarded the contract to design, produce, and install the facades for Iceland's new Landspitali National University Hospital. The facade area spans 30,000 square meters and involves a total value of 47 million euros, making it the largest project in Staticus' history. The hospital building itself is anticipated to cover approximately 66,000 square meters, establishing it as the largest single building in Iceland.
Internasjonalt samarbeid for fasade
The project involves close collaboration between Staticus and an array of international partners, including the Icelandic design team Corpus 3, and experts from Buro Happold and Bird & Bird from the United Kingdom. The joint effort aims to balance technical considerations with the architectural vision of the hospital. Staticus is a full-service facade contractor, taking responsibility for every phase from design through to installation, supported by a team of over 100 engineers.
Tåler ekstremvær og jordskjelv
Building in Iceland presents unique climatic challenges, including extreme weather conditions, earthquakes, and potential volcanic activity. To address these, Staticus has designed the facade elements to withstand wind loads up to 4.5 kN/m² and will carry out two seismic tests to ensure compliance with safety standards. The components of the facade will be prefabricated at Staticus' production facility in Lithuania, shipped to Iceland, and installed between September 2023 and November 2024. The project's completion is anticipated for 2027.
Erfaring reduserer prosjektets risiko
Given the project's scale and complexity, additional risks include logistic challenges and the need for precise engineering solutions to cope with Iceland's harsh climate. Staticus' extensive experience with large-scale hospital projects, such as those in Oslo and Stockholm, is crucial in mitigating these risks and ensuring the project meets all regulatory and technical requirements. Their innovative culture and forward-thinking approach also contribute to developing effective technical solutions.
