Omexom bygger 300MW BESS
Omexom is executing the construction and commissioning of Zenobē’s Kilmarnock South Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Scotland. This large-scale project features a 300MW/600MWh capacity, making it one of the largest battery storage systems in the UK. The contract includes civil works, electrical installations, and comprehensive commissioning activities, with Omexom leveraging its expertise to meet Zenobē’s rigorous technical and safety standards.
Sivile arbeider og igangkjøring 2024-25
The project scope involved completing major civil works by the end of 2024, preparing the site for electrical installation phases that concluded by April 2025. Subsequently, cold and hot commissioning were successfully carried out, with supply cabling and GIS-AIS connection points tested and verified. The final stage of full energization is planned for late 2025, marking the transition to operational status.
Støtter nettstabilitet og CO2-reduksjon
Kilmarnock South BESS plays a critical role in strengthening Scotland’s electricity transmission network by supporting the 400kV substation and improving grid stability. By increasing storage capacity and reducing wind curtailment, the system helps lower costs for consumers and is expected to avoid 3.3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, significantly contributing to the UK's renewable energy objectives and carbon reduction targets.
Del av £750M batteriutvidelse
This project is part of Zenobē’s broader £750 million initiative aiming to double Scotland’s battery storage capacity within three years. The collaboration between Omexom and Zenobē highlights a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and safety, supporting the country’s energy transition goals through advanced grid management technology and increased renewable integration.
