Kontrakt for 44 MW solkraft
Omexom Portugal signed an EPC contract with RWE for the construction of a photovoltaic power plant in Morgavel, Sines, in the south of Portugal. The plant will have a capacity of 44 MWac (49 MWp) and span across an area of about 100 hectares. Construction has already commenced, with full operational status anticipated by 2023.
RWE eier og driver anlegget
RWE, a leading company in renewable energies, owns and operates the Morgavel photovoltaic plant. The company has a global presence in the field, including operating one of the largest solar farms in Australia, Limondale, which has a capacity of 249 MWac. This project aims to enhance RWE's renewable energy footprint on the Iberian Peninsula and contribute significantly to local climate goals.
91,000 bifacial moduler
The solar plant will feature over 91,000 bifacial modules with single-axis trackers and central inverters, ensuring high efficiency. Bifacial technology allows electricity production from both sides of a panel, increasing overall energy generation. The project will adhere to high safety standards and align with Portugal and EU green energy objectives.
Strøm til 42,000 hjem årlig
The Morgavel project is expected to generate enough green electricity to power approximately 42,000 Portuguese homes annually. Located in a region with around 3,000 hours of sunlight per year, it also contributes to one of the two Green Hydrogen valleys planned for Portugal. Omexom and RWE are committed to leveraging the ideal conditions in Sines to produce sustainable solar energy.
