Komplett renovering til hotell
The Motel One Basel project involved the complete renovation of an existing building that previously housed offices and commercial premises, converting it into a hotel with 143 rooms. Located at Barfüsserplatz in the heart of Basel, the building encompasses a total volume of 23,000 m³, covering two basement levels, a ground floor, four upper floors, and a penthouse floor.
Lean byggeprosesser i bysentrum
The construction process included several significant challenges, such as working within the limited delivery times and confined spaces typical of a city center location. Despite these constraints, the team executed a complete overhaul of the building services, the construction of 143 high-quality individual hotel rooms, and the installation of a new roof. The project was carried out using lean construction techniques to adhere to the tight schedule and ensure efficient decision-making processes.
Samarbeid mellom nøkkelaktører
The collaborative effort between different stakeholders, including SPS Immobilien AG as the building owner and Monoplan AG as the architect, was crucial to the project's success. The renovation was completed on schedule, meeting both the construction time and operator requirements. With a construction volume valued at 18.5 million CHF (or its equivalent in other currencies), the project was notable for its efficient use of resources and space.
Strategisk lokasjon styrker økonomien
