Tre nivåer med terrasser
The project is a modern single-family house situated in Årvoll, Norway, carefully positioned between a pine and a maple tree to optimize natural light and views. The house covers 200 m² and features a concrete ground floor that steps up along the slightly ascending landscape, creating three distinct platforms. The lowest level contains common rooms that open to a southern sunlight garden with a fully glazed façade, while the middle level serves circulation and utility purposes, and the top level houses more intimate common rooms with varying ceiling heights.
Funksjonsinndelt og soloptimalisert plan
The second floor is organized into three functional units: a central common area opening to both the south and north, children’s bedrooms to the west, and parents’ bedrooms with bathrooms to the east. Glazed strips on the east and west façades maximize morning and evening sunlight while maintaining a visual connection with the surrounding trees. The architectural design emphasizes programmatic division between floors with varied cladding and includes a cantilevered pergola to the south that allows winter sun penetration and filters summer sun to mitigate overheating.
Bærekraftig konstruksjon med CLT
Structurally, the house is built with glulam beams and columns stabilized by cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, with the building envelope also made from CLT. Sustainable design elements include south-facing solar panels that supply energy to the house. The project was completed in 2024 by Haugen/Zohar Architects' team in Oslo, featuring collaboration with private clients. The design thoughtfully integrates modern materials and energy-efficient strategies while responding to the dynamic landscape and natural environment.
