Nytt fraktprosjekt på flyplassen
The Rächtenwisen freight hall at Zurich Airport is an impressive new freight infrastructure project being executed by Implenia Holzbau. The project, commissioned by Flughafen Zürich AG, highlights the efficiency of sustainable timber construction methods. The new cargo building is situated in the Rächtenwisen area, east of the airport, near the General Aviation Center and bordered by Flughafenstrasse and Fahrschulstrasse.
Lager og kontorer med tre
Designed to meet the evolving demands of the cargo business, the single-storey warehouse features large-span areas with two-storey fixtures for offices and technical rooms. The hall will be built using a high-performance concrete column construction supporting a timber framework. Implenia Holzbau's involvement includes factory planning, production, and assembly of the roof elements, which consist of glulam beams, up to two meters in height and 31 meters in length, supported on prefabricated concrete columns.
Komplekse logistikkutfordringer
One of the project's primary challenges is its complex logistics, necessitating meticulous coordination due to restricted working hours with lifting equipment and the need for millimeter-precise planning. The large-format beams are assembled exclusively at night to minimize disruption to airport operations, while roof elements are installed both day and night. The total roof area, including canopies, covers approximately 12,600 square meters, all prefabricated at Implenia Holzbau's production hall in Rümlang.
Reduksjon av CO2-utslipp
Sustainability is a critical focus of this project, with the use of timber significantly reducing CO2 emissions and energy consumption compared to traditional steel or solid constructions. Timber's status as a renewable resource that stores CO2 improves the overall carbon footprint of the building, aligning with the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals of forward-thinking companies.
Ferdigstilles mai 2025
This substantial project is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion by May 2025. The planning was undertaken by Gähler und Partner AG, in close collaboration with the building owner, Flughafen Zürich AG.
