Flomforebygging på Riksveg 15
Statens vegvesen is undertaking a project to elevate Riksveg 15 through Folven in Oppstryn as a part of NVE's initiative to floodproof the Sunndøla and Hjelledøla rivers. The rivers have historically overflowed, particularly during spring snow melt, and landslides have also caused flooding and subsequent closures of the road segment that serves as a vital connector for the local community and access to and from Strynefjellet.
Oppgraderer flomsikringsanlegg
To enforce flood protection measures, the NVE plans to renew flood embankments and secure the riverbeds to prevent damage to housing and the national road from floods, debris flows, and mudslides in Sunndøla. Enhancements will also include building new flood banks at the confluence of the Sunndøla and Hjelledøla rivers near Grov bridge, raising the road to the bridge and improving erosion protection along the right riverbank. The existing flood embankment on the left bank between Grov bridge and Nygård bridge will also be renewed.
Finansierer veiheving, unngår stenging
Statens vegvesen plans to raise 300 meters of Riksveg 15 by up to one meter, and is currently working on securing funding. The construction is expected to start sometime in 2022, with an estimated completion time of approximately six months. Traffic will be managed by the contractor without requiring road closures, potentially by elevating one lane at a time. In case of closures, local detour routes are available. Both Statens vegvesen and Stryn municipality express gratitude for the collaboration and look forward to the project's completion, expected by 2024.
