Installert 14,8 MW batterisystem
Omexom Conversion & Storage successfully supplied, installed, and commissioned five independent battery energy storage systems (BESS) totaling 14.8 MW/2h capacity for ZE Energy’s 77 MW hybrid solar park located in Vert, Landes, southwestern France. This project marks the third collaboration between Omexom and ZE Energy, with commercial operation starting in October 2025. Each BESS is connected to a separate Enedis grid connection point and directly linked to the photovoltaic power plant, operating in coordination to optimize performance and responsiveness to grid needs.

The Vert hybrid power plant integrates photovoltaic solar generation with dispatchable battery storage to provide essential grid services, including improved stability and flexibility. By balancing variable solar output with stored energy, the facility mitigates fluctuations in electricity supply and demand, reducing energy losses and significantly enhancing the security of supply for the regional grid. This project exemplifies how large-scale renewable assets can actively support grid reliability beyond merely supplying intermittent power.
Gjenbruk av stormskadet areal
A notable aspect of this project is its use of 60 hectares of land devastated by storm Klaus in 2009, which destroyed the Landes forest and impacted the local economy through halted forestry activities. The Vert project repurposes this damaged land into a sustainable renewable energy installation, contributing to local development and economic recovery. In addition, Omexom provides 24/7 operation and maintenance services for the battery systems to ensure reliable performance, maximize asset availability, and optimize long-term revenue.

The hybrid solar and storage approach relies on load shifting, storing surplus solar energy produced during peak midday hours in the batteries, then discharging energy during periods of low solar generation in the evening. This system enhances the value of renewable production by precisely timing energy delivery to better match grid demand patterns, which is increasingly vital for the viability of renewable energy business models in Europe.
