10 Condominium Apartments
Anchored in the heart of Vufflens-la-Ville, a quiet village in Grosde-Vaud just outside Lausanne, the Alezane Residence comprises ten three-and-a-half to five-and-a-half-room apartments, offered as condominiums. The project is named Alezane due to its proximity to a stud farm. This building is adjacent to a large green area on the site of an old farmhouse, whose elegant façade has been meticulously preserved.
Heritage Conservation Project
Vufflens-la-Ville is listed in the Federal Inventory of Swiss Sites of National Importance (ISOS), making this project a part of a heritage conservation concept developed with the support of local authorities. The construction combines contemporary architecture with an authentic touch, ensuring it integrates well into the village environment while preserving historical elements.
Challenge: Stabilizing Façade
One of the significant challenges of the project was stabilizing the historic façade, given that the original construction methods differed considerably from modern standards. The façade is supported by a concrete structure, and the main design goal was to maximize living space within the limited floor plans governed by neighborhood planning restrictions. Traditional and modern materials were carefully selected to blend aesthetically with the existing village environment, achieving a modern touch through canopies with metal coatings, tapered to create a light and airy impression.
Completed in One Year
The Alezane Residence has a building volume of 6,100 m³. Construction started in June 2015 and was completed by June 2016. The project was spearheaded by Architectes Bourg 21 SA from Lausanne, showcasing an excellent blend of historic preservation and modern living.
