The Düdingenplus project aims to transform a former industrial area in Düdingen, Switzerland, into a sustainable residential neighborhood. This initiative came about after the relocation of Romag Aquacare AG and is situated on the opposite side of the train tracks. The development is being spearheaded by subsidiaries of Implenia Suisse SA in Fribourg and Bern, with financing from Vaudoise Investment Solutions AG. The entire sector has been designated a strategically important agglomeration area by the regional planning director.

Construction for Düdingenplus is being carried out in multiple phases. The first phase, commissioned by Sarasin Investment Foundation and managed by Implenia as the general contractor, involved erecting three buildings (A, B, and C) with 133 apartments and commercial premises. This phase was completed between 2016 and 2019. The project will eventually encompass eight residential buildings with a shared underground parking garage, and an additional ninth building is planned for the future. Overall, the complex will consist of 306 apartments.

The architectural firm Trachsel Zeltner Architekten AG designed all the buildings, ensuring architectural cohesion through features like reinforced concrete load-bearing structures, brick elements, and external insulation finished with colored plaster. High-quality interiors include tiles or parquet flooring, premium kitchen appliances, granite worktops, and well-designed bathrooms. Energy efficiency is a core focus, boasting Minergie certification, district heating with pellets, triple-glazed windows, heat recovery ventilation, and LED lighting. The sustainability of the project is further enhanced with green roofs that incorporate water storage.

Stages 2 and 4 of the project, awarded to Implenia Switzerland Ltd - Buildings Division, include the final five buildings and complete the neighborhood transformation. Designed to promote generational diversity and contact with nature, the neighborhood features various public, semi-public, and private outdoor areas, including a neighborhood square and playgrounds. Slow traffic runways and extensive landscaping seamlessly link the built environment to natural elements.

The last five buildings in stages 2 and 4, designed by Trachsel Zeltner Architekten AG, comprise 173 flats with 2.5 to 4.5 rooms, available for rent. These buildings will also feature Switzerland’s first Volvo Premium Car Sharing service for residential and office buildings, fostering the use of soft mobility. Additionally, the project includes two retail spaces of 391 square meters on the ground floor of building E, and building no. 24 (G) extends over two additional stories. A tree-lined inner courtyard will be centrally located among the final three buildings, further promoting a sense of community and connection to nature.
