The La Chapelle neighbourhood in Geneva is a significant urban development encompassing eighteen buildings dedicated to residential and commercial use. This major project includes tens of thousands of square metres for living spaces, designed to accommodate 3,500 residents, alongside shops and a large public park. A notably long esplanade stretches almost 250 metres across the district, demonstrating a distinctive architectural style characterized by soft, undulating curves.

The project's design prominently features a combination of taut and pleasant curves, noticeable in various elements from the underground car park exits to street furniture like benches and shelters. The primary construction materials used include coloured raw concrete, galvanised steel for railings, and traditional asphalt for flooring. Integrated lighting and strategically placed waste separation points help minimize the presence of disruptive objects, enhancing the neighbourhood's visual appeal.

Further adding to the project's sophistication, the underground car park boasts a thoughtfully designed layout meant to reduce the typical discomfort associated with such spaces. Each exit features wide shafts that open up to three levels built below, with inner courtyards allowing daylight to permeate and naturally ventilate the entire space. This design ensures a comfortable and safe environment for users, contributing to the overall atmosphere of the La Chapelle neighbourhood.

Initiated in June 2012, the construction reached completion by June 2014. Renowned architects from dl-a, designlab-architecture sa, led by Patrick Devanthery and Inès Lamunière, were responsible for the project's distinct design elements. La Chapelle stands as a model of modern urban planning, seamlessly blending residential, commercial, and public spaces to create a dynamic and appealing environment for the community.
