Vandkunsten Wins Stavanger Project
Danish architecture firm Vandkunsten has won the competition to design a significant residential project, Pynteneset, in Stavanger. Located on Engøy island, the Pynteneset site is considered one of the most attractive development areas in Stavanger. Vandkunsten's winning proposal focuses on integrating historic elements connected to Stavanger's traditional sea houses and the city's waterfront.
Pynteneset: Architecture Harmonizes Nature
Vandkunsten aims to encapsulate the essence of living in Pynteneset, conveying this through the development's architecture and site planning. Their design proposal seeks to reflect the original typologies of the city while emphasizing the qualities of residing in a charming local neighborhood. The project aims to establish a low, open scale district, intimately linked with the omnipresent nature, and highlights Pynteneset's proximity to the fjord, allowing residents to have their own boat place.
Vandkunsten Leads Design and Landscape
Vandkunsten serves as both the architect and landscape architect for the Pynteneset project. They expressed gratitude towards other participants, Lund and Slaatto architects and Eder Biesel architects, for the competition. Vandkunsten is a known entity in Norway, recognized for their previous work on the 'Vannkunsten' housing project in Bjørvika, Oslo. The location of the project, facing the charming old city center of Stavanger and amidst the archipelago, offers a unique setting with the grand harbor space in the forefront.
